When using Qlik, you may need to profile or categorize your numerical data. This makes it easy to convert continuous data into discrete data. With Qlik, this can be easily accomplished during data load using the Qlik Buckets card.
Simply select the table with the data you want to use, click the edit icon, then select the column of data to bucket. This will reveal two boxes at the bottom of the screen depending on your data type. Options for bucketing your data can be found in the box to the right. From here you can define how many buckets are created, name the buckets, and define the data range for each bucket.
Once you select ‘Create Buckets’ Qlik will add a new column to your table. The newly categorized data can be renamed to be more descriptive. If you need to categorize more that one column or have more than one category to a column, you can stack buckets. Here is a video for a visual guide on bucketing data with QlikSense.
